Almost every human being is engaged in some form of work. Most of us have some responsibility or the other. We have to work for a living and besides earning all of us also have some personal errands to attend to. Similarly even satan has a plethora of chores to attend to. However, the life of satan is much easier than us. For example:
Whereas human beings work for a living satan steals to survive.
Whereas we plan about our future satan is always busy planning about new ways to destroy our lives.
Human beings try to have a good family life and stay at home with their family. On the other hand satan lives in other peoples houses and tries his level best to destroy the peace in those households.
Human beings like cleanliness and try to avoid filth but satan loves dirt surroundings.
So a satan’s life is much easier than our lives because his sole motive is to lead us astray and trouble us. In fact, satan considers it his foremost duty to trouble human beings. This has been mentioned in chapter 4 An-Nisa, verse no.118 of the holy Quran.
4:118 (Y. Ali) Allah did curse him, but he said: "I will take of Thy servants a portion Marked off;
Satan tries to put evil thoughts in the human minds. He cleverly tries to misguide them. However it is up to the human beings whether they obey him or their own conscience. The Quran mentions in chapter 4 (An-Nisa), verse no. 60 about the tricks that satan plays to lead us astray.
4:60 (Y. Ali) Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who declare that they believe in the revelations that have come to thee and to those before thee? Their (real) wish is to resort together for judgment (in their disputes) to the Evil One, though they were ordered to reject him. But Satan's wish is to lead them astray far away (from the right).
Although Allah has forbidden us from vices such as liquor, gambling etc satan takes much pride in encouraging us to indulge in these evil activities. This has been mentioned in Al-Maeda (chapter.5) verse no.91
5:91 (Y. Ali) Satan's plan is (but) to excite enmity and hatred between you, with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah, and from prayer: will ye not then abstain?
In An-Noor (chapter 24) verse no 21 of the Quran it has been clearly mentioned how satan tries to encourage us to indulge in evil.
24:21 (Y. Ali) O ye who believe! follow not Satan's footsteps: if any will follow the footsteps of Satan, he will (but) command what is shameful and wrong: and were it not for the grace and mercy of Allah on you, not one of you would ever have been pure: but Allah doth purify whom He pleases: and Allah is One Who hears and knows (all things).
